2017 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Finalists Announced With ACN, Inc. to Sponsor Upcoming Awards Banquet

 Five finalists were announced for the 2017 Bronko Nagurski Trophy on November 15, but only one will take the title of the NCAA’s top defensive player at the awards banquet sponsored by ACN, Inc. Named for College and Professional Football Hall of Famer, Bronislau Nagurski, the Bronko Nagurski Trophy is presented by the Football Writers Association of America and the Charlotte Touchdown Club every year.

ACN, Inc. is proud to announce this year’s roster of finalists which is comprised of stellar student athletes across the nation. Finalists include front-runner of the FBS in tackles for loss this season, Bradley Chubb of NC State – defensive backfield leader Minkah Fitzpatrick of Alabama – Iowa’s middle linebacker ranked fourth in the nation in total tackles, Josey Jewell – defensive tackle and 2016 second-team FWAA All-American, Ed Oliver of Houston – and Georgia’s leading tackler, outside linebacker Roquan Smith.

The winner will be announced December 4, 2017 at an awards banquet presented by ACN, Inc. Head coach of the number one team in the SEC East, Georgia’s Kirby Smart is confirmed to deliver the keynote address. In addition, Florida East Coast Railway will honor Notre Dame’s Ross Browner as the recipient of the Bronko Nagurski Legends Award. And Greg Sanders will receive the 2017 Defender of the Nation Award sponsored by The Independence Fund.
